At Texas Health Action (THA), we are passionate about changing the face of healthcare in Austin by making biomedical interventions and services for sexual health and wellness accessible. We serve our patients with an amazing team of clinicians, staff and volunteers who dedicate their time and expertise to see patients within a combination of weekday and weekend hours. We removed the primary barriers to healthcare, lack of health insurance and/or personal income, by accepting both insured and uninsured patients and by providing services at no cost to the patient.

THA is seeking a Receptionist at our Central Austin Clinic, to answer phones and handle all of the day-to-day administrative tasks required to keep the clinic running smoothly. This person will attend to patients on the phone and in person, coordinate and organize appointments and documentation to facilitate the smooth running of the healthcare environment and support delivery of quality patient care.

Duties and responsibilities

  • Greet patients, answer incoming calls and handle inquiries
  • Register patients according to established protocols
  • Ensure patient information is accurate including billing information
  • Inform patients of medical office procedures and policy
  • Maintain and manage patient records
  • Move patients through appointments as scheduled
  • Schedule patient appointments
  • Report statistics as required
  • Manage incoming and outgoing post
  • Maintain stock of forms and office supplies
  • Ensure reception area is well maintained, neat and clean
  • Safeguard patient privacy and confidentiality
  • Complete other clerical duties and office tasks as assigned

Education and Experience

  • High School Diploma
  • Knowledge of medical terminology, procedures and diagnosis
  • Knowledge of computer and relevant software applications
  • Knowledge of general administrative and clerical procedures
  • Working knowledge of healthcare insurance preferred
